Officers with the Texas Division of Transportation (TxDOT) say an 18-wheeler hauling eggs slammed into the pillar of the bridge at Malcom X Boulevard. The crash ripped the trailer aside and despatched some 30,000 kilos of eggs spilling onto the roadway.

The accident, on the I-45 interchange, brought on the closure of the westbound lanes of I-30 close to downtown. Along with coping with the eggs and a potential gasoline leak, TxDOT crews labored to examine any harm to the bridge. Site visitors was being rerouted off on the I-45 exit.

The motive force of the massive rig wasn’t injured within the crash that occurred round 4:00 a.m.

The freeway is predicted to be shut down for a number of hours as crews clear up the spill.
