The college preparatory curriculum at Brothers of the Christian Schools High School is demanding and comprehensive, requiring all scholars to complete at least four courses in religion, history, English, and mathematics, three years of sciences, and one visual or music practice each year as well as at least two years of a foreign language. Calendar of Volunteer Opportunities

St Peter’s Hospital provides over 65 volunteer positions to adults sixteen years or older from our community who strive to deliver top-quality health care with compassion. Volunteers assist at information desks, gift and thrift shops, patient aide stations, and friendly visitor duties throughout the hospital, as well as serving as greeters, patient aides, or friendly visitors – among many other responsibilities!

At Saint Peter School, children can select classes spanning pre-k to sixth grade taught by certified teachers and trained paraprofessionals who share Catholic values. Furthermore, students are given ample opportunities to explore their passions through art programs and extracurricular activities.

Saint Peter’s Girls High School is an all-girls Catholic high school located in West New Brighton on Staten Island in New York City and administered by the Christian Brothers from the Institute of Brothers of the Christian Schools, with affiliation to the Archdiocese of New York. Established in 1917 by Franciscan Fathers from India, they took over the operation of Saint Peter’s after World War I ended and opened it again as Saint Peter’s Girls High School under their administration in 1920 when it reopened after its previous closure during that war.

In 2008, the school was honored to be included on President Bush’s Higher Education Honor Roll for its dedication to civic engagement and community service. Recognized for its robust academic programs – comprising four courses offered through the Religious Studies Department, four English Department courses, two History courses, three Math/Science Department courses, as well as one Foreign Language Department class and two elective offerings – they boast several prestigious accolades as evidenced by this honor roll recognition.

The school has an inclusive environment and is an excellent option for parents looking to teach their children the importance of giving back to the community. Saint Peter School seeks to educate both the mind and heart of each student in its care. With a robust academic program offered in an atmosphere that fosters growth and nurture, Saint Peter serves students from varying backgrounds, ages, and family situations, serving Cambridge’s last remaining Catholic grammar school.

District enrollment stands at 69.6% White, 0.9% Black, 0.8% Asian/Pacific Islander and 16.5% Hispanic or Latino; 4.3% are two or more races. Average class sizes in the district are 15, while the teacher-to-student ratio is 14:1. To meet state regulations, all teachers are licensed with at least three years of experience teaching.

Christian Brothers of St. John Baptist de La Salle is an order of religious men that manages this Staten Island school. It was founded on Richmond Terrace in the New Brighton area in 1917 and was initially run by them until they left in 1924 to serve in World War 1. Since 1924, it has been run by lay staff, and currently, 31 faculty members provide instruction. Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited this establishment.
